Halloween Costume Ideas for Professionals

Thanks to a dear friend - the very creative (and dorky) Natalie - here are some costume ideas for professionals who have to dress up for work, but nevertheless want to partake in the trick-or-treating-festivities: (some are lawyer-specific)

1. Three hole punch version of yourself.

2. American Psycho: clear raincoat over business suit and axe (spattered blood on coat for full effect)

3. Professor: Business clothes with a sweater vest, bow tie, and a worn coat with patches on the elbows (lots of occupational costumes will work here - chef: apron and hat, waiter: tie, short apron, and dish cloth, priest: all black with a white collar, etc.)

4. Hobo: Wear normal work clothes with a tattered, patched coat and a scruffy face (charcoal will do the trick)

5. Pimp: business clothes (preferably bright colors), coat with fur trimming, cane and funky hat (be sure to walk with a limp)

6. Power of Attorney: Regular work clothes with a cape

7. Clark Kent: Wear a Superman t-shirt underneath your business clothes and wear glasses to work - when people ask what you are, just open the buttons of your dress shirt and take off the glasses (everyone dresses up as Superman, Clark always gets overlooked)

8. Peter Parker: Same as above, just wear a spiderman t-shirt instead and no glasses

9. Dilbert: Wear glasses, a short-sleeved business shirt, pocket protector and a curved tie (Make a short tie out of red construction paper, draw black stripes with a permanent marker and wrap it around something round overnight - it should be curved by the following morning - just safety pin to your collar)

Must Love Dogs

According to the August 6th issue of Business Week, Americans spend more on our pets ($41 billion a year) than we do on movies ($10.8 billion), video games ($11.6 billion), and recorded music ($10.6 billion) combined. Most people are not surprised to hear the numbers; by the way, $41 billion is more than the GDP of all but 64 countries in the world.

Pam and Gavin finally got married! The wedding was a blast. It was particularly awesome to see old friends.

It's been a while...

After spending my last semester in D.C. this Winter/Spring, I finally moved back home to South Florida. I have since attended my law school graduation, studied for the Florida Bar, taken the Bar, and attended two weddings.... Well, more updates later, perhaps.

snail mail

so, as of today, i'm still on track with the snail-mail-sending resolution. i'm not entirely confident that i can keep it up for the rest of the year, but at least i'm off to a good start, right?
